According to reports a police complaint has been filed against Delhi CM Kejriwal and AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj for trying to disturb peace by threatening migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The complaint, filed by ex-AAP MLA Kapil Mishra and BJP leader Neelkanth Bakshi, states that the CM had threatened the people from UP and Bihar by warning them of the consequences if the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was implemented in Delhi.

In the complaint filed with the Delhi Police at the Parliament Street Police Station, Mishra accused the Delhi CM and other AAP leaders of seeking to mislead the people about NRC.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal had taken a swipe at Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari with regard to the implementation of NRC in Delhi. The AAP leader had said that if the NRC is implemented in the national capital, then the BJP leader would be the first person to leave Delhi.

In the complaint, Kejriwal and Bharadwaj have been accused of rumor-mongering, trying to spread lies, disturb peace, hurt the sentiments of those living in Delhi from UP and Bihar, attempting to prevent the implementation of Supreme Court’s directions, and creating law and order problems in Delhi.

Hitting back at Kejriwal’s remarks, Tiwari – a Bhojpuri singer-turned-politician – slammed the Delhi CM and said the remarks had exposed the AAP leader’s “real face”. Tiwari accused Kejriwal of seeking to evict migrants such as ‘Purvanchalis’.

It may be noted that ‘Purvanchalis’ are people from the eastern parts of the country like Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh who have migrated to Delhi for livelihood and other purpose. They are seen as a significant vote bank in Delhi.

The Delhi BJP president went on to claim that Kejriwal “wants to remove people from (West) Bengal, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and other states in Delhi”.

“Does Kejriwal, who is an IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officer, does not know what NRC is? It seems Kejriwal has lost his mental balance,” Tiwari said during a Facebook Live interaction.

“This statement exposes Kejriwal’s real face. It means he wants to evict the migrants like Purvanchalis from Delhi,” he said, adding that “I have criticised him (Kejriwal) for his policies but I never abused him”.
