According to a Times Now report a controversial clip has surfaced in West Bengal which shows an Indian Police Service officer touching the feet of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The short clip, which has gone viral, is from a few days back.
As per details available, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee was in Digha, in East Midnapore district, for an administrative meeting. In the video, she can be seen sitting on the seaside along with officials.
The CM can be seen offering cake to the officials present there – it is not clear what the occasion was. Lok Sabha MP Shishir Adhikari and ADG CM security, Vineet Goyal can also be seen in the video.
As Mamata offers cake to IPS officer and Inspector General (western range) Rajiv Misra, he obliges and then touches the TMC supremo’s feet to seek blessings. All this happened while Misra was in uniform and on duty. It may be noted that such behaviour is in violation of service rules.
As per reports, while so far no explanation has been sought from the officer concerned, but sources said he might be asked to explain his actions.
Meanwhile, another video of Mamata Banerjee had gone viral earlier from her visit to Digha. Mamata was seen donning the hat of a tea-seller in the video.
The video showed Mamata stopping at a local stall and make tea, which she later shared with the locals present at the spot. She could be seen pouring tea in cups before sharing them with locals.
